Many wedding photographers avoid taking large groups. You should never refuse to shoot a large group, there is always a demand for groups if you pose them correctly.

Most photographers who say there is little money to made with large groups, usually do not have the creativity to pose the groups.

In fact the opposite is true, you will get many reorders for groups shots if you take the time and effort to ensure that your customers are happy with the shot.

You often see wedding photography where the photographer has posed the group in a long straight line. In order to get the group to fit the frame they then have to walk backwards or use a very wide angle lens. The effect of walking backwards to make the group fit the frame is that you end up with lots of sky, lots of ground and an unattractive looking group somewhere across the middle of the frame.

There are two methods I advise you to use when shooting big groups.

The first is to shoot from a high angle, for example from a first floor window above the group. This can often be achieved at the hotel. Directing the group from here is not easy, but you will gain the advantage of a group which can be five or six deep and whose faces can all be seen.

The other method is to use a set of stairs, often available at the church or at the hotel. Ensure the bride and groom are at the foot of the stairs and get arrange everyone else in an ascending manner from there. Before you press the shutter check quickly that you can see everyone's face.

Also beware of your depth of field when using stairs, you will probably be shooting at least f8 if not f16.

So, don't be afraid of the big groups!

It's early in the morning. The voices won't stop and you have been cutting yourself and smearing blood over the walls of the cave you are in. Your mind is going at a thousand miles an hour and terrible voices are telling you to go and jump off the cliff. The blood is flowing now and you suck some of it off your wrist and scratch at it and lick some more off and the voices won't stop and you can't stand still. You're hungry, thirsty, insane with these voices, hurting from the blood flow in your wrist and your head is bursting with all of the confusion and you are wondering how you are going to survive another day in torment.

A wave of peace sort of knocks you over and the chatter of angry voices seems to lull for a second and suddenly you are running out into the sunlight searching for the source of this massive rush of power that had temporarily short circuited the angry voices and made a second or two of peace. You squint at the sunlight and as your eyes adjust it seems the sun is flowing off a man's face dressed like a Rabbi walking up the path toward your humble abode. The voices in your head go wild with fear and they scream at you to go back into the cave and as you raise your hand to block the radiance coming off this man, you realize that your eyes don't even want to look at him.

But oh the peace and it sort of surprises you to feel both a strong attraction to this guy and a strong repulsion to him at the same time and the voices are silent now as he gets within twenty feet of you and your realize that he has no fear of you and is intent on coming to see you and for the first time in many years you are feeling like you want the company of a stranger. From the looks of this man he appears quite peaceful and you squint and catch his face from time to time, but his radiance is just too much to keep your eyes on him, but oh you can't keep your eyes off him.

He beckons you to himself and his eyes are so full of love and then as you grow close he commands the demons to come out of you in a short quick order. The only thing that happens is they start to scream again and you feel sick as though you are going to vomit such is the fear that has engulfed your stomach. But you instinctively know that the fear isn't your fear and it's the demons he is commanding that fear this man and you wait patiently for the Rabbi to make his next move.

He asks your friends that torment you what their names are and you hear your voice say Legion for we are many. And suddenly your voices are screaming in fear out of your mouth for him to have mercy on them and send them into the pigs that graze on the cliff nearby. With one quick command your torment is over and it's like liquid oil flowing over your whole body and it soaks you with this awesome peace and finally you know that your mind is free and your tormentors have finally gone.

The keepers of the pigs are very angry now and approaching the Rabbi who smiles at them in a serene smile and they leave to go and tell the town around the bend and a few miles down the beaten track. A town you are not welcome in, a town that used to be your home, a place you used to live in when you were in your right mind.

The Rabbi asks one of his men to open his bag and they get out some bread and give it to you and open a flask of wine and hand it to you and he says sweetly, "Take and eat and drink your fill."

You want to talk to this man, but you have only eaten scraps the pig keepers throw at the front of your cave once in a while and this is the first fresh and real food you have seen for years and you figure that the conversation can wait. The bread is so fresh and as you pull chunks out, the Rabbi asks his follower with the bag if there are any olives left and the follower says there are only a couple and the Rabbi insists that he gets them out.

Three olives are given to the Rabbi and he smiles at you and begins to juggle them and before your eyes the three turn into four and then five and then he starts to throw them to you and you catch them one by one as he continues to juggle. He always has at least four in his hands and they keep on appearing out of thin air and slowly as he throws them one by one at you your hands fill with olives until he stops when you can't hold any more.

He gives a gentle smile and reaches over and rips some of your bread off and places it in his mouth with a couple of olives and you start to do the same with your bounty. He is chewing and smiling silently at you and your are busy eating and smiling back and nothing is said but the communication is the most love you have felt since your wedding night and yet with this Rabbi and this peace your mind remembers that not even your wedding night filled you with this much joy.

His smile sends waves of joy through you, the flavour of fresh olives explode in your taste buds and the experience was one that you knew you would remember for many years. You shake your head and look at the floating pigs in the water and hope the voices might never come back and you just can't seem to come to grips with how radically your life had been transformed this morning. Your cut has been healed, the blood stain isn't even on your wrist and your whole body is feeling so light that you feel you might lift of the ground and float like a cloud if things got any better.

So much is different and as you chew, you finally have had your fill to a point where you want to talk and you put the rest of the food on the dirt and ask a question.

"Who did you come to see Rabbi?"

"I came to see you my child. My Father in heaven told me that you have been crying for his mercy and the time had come for you to be set free."

Tears well up in your eyes as there is no doubt that you are free but knowing he came just for you and that purpose is too much for your rejected and broken spirit to handle. You are full, you are healed and you have the most wonderful peaceful and powerful man you have ever seen telling you God loves you and has heard your prayers and has made a special trip for you and it is all too much. You take a minute and suddenly you are weeping without restraint. Sorrow flows out of you like a torrent and yet used to being embarrassed and feeling shame you have no problems weeping in public.

The Rabbi starts to talk to his followers gently and as you weep you can still hear his lilting voice telling them that this is their purpose on the earth, to set the captives free and bring liberty to the broken hearted. He speaks a little to them and then with his hand he lays it upon your shoulder and suddenly you get a jolt like lightning going through you and your crying stops in an instant and the peace is back in a bigger and stronger quantity.

You don't get to ask your next question before the whole town is bearing down on the Rabbi with sticks and stones in their hands. He gently speaks to them and brings peace among them and agrees to their request that he should leave. He gets to his feet and pulls you up to your feet and invites you to walk with him down to the boat that you suddenly see now pulled up to the shoreline.

You walk down to the boat and he gives you some wisdom from God and some insight into the teachings that you knew as a child and then finally he is bidding you goodbye and getting into the boat.

You ask him if you can go with him and be one of his followers and he gives you the broadest grin and laughs.

It's not a mocking laugh, it's a laugh of joy and then he gently tells you that you need to go back to the town you once lived in and show them what a miracle this Rabbi had done in your life. He tells you what you need to tell them and tells you one day he will be back to check on what a good job you have done.

Tears roll down your cheek and they are bittersweet. All of your heart and your renewed mind wants to get on the boat, but you know also that the power that is in you and the story you have to tell will bring many people closer to this Rabbi's way of faith. You can't wave and your tears cloud your vision and you look down in sorrow and then you hear his voice.

"I am going to miss you John."

Jesus Christ had a way with people. Jesus is a very personal God manifest on earth for us all to understand and He is gentle, meek and kind. He is the sort of guy that would juggle olives and make them appear out of thin air simply to show you He could do more then just expel demons. He has a smile that simply melts hearts and often all He needs to do is look at you with a gentle smile and your spirit hears the sentences.

Jesus wants the mentally ill set free and he still cares about today's Schizophrenics like me. It's not a strange thing for a person today to have multiple bad voices talking to them. It's not uncommon for people to have to be locked up and put away so they won't kill themselves and others.

This man mentioned in the Gospels like the woman at the well became one of the first evangelists that was personally commissioned by Jesus Christ. Some of the best healers in the world were once sick with a disease that was incurable and when the Lord set them free they began a life of preaching the good news and healing others. I have no doubt that this man would have had the compassion on the sick of his town that He returned to and the anointing to heal in the name of the Jesus he had met. He had a powerful testimony and as he shared it I believe that many would have had their faith strengthened.

It is not mentioned in the Bible, but I think my Jesus, the one I know quite well might have popped into His town a few years later to lay hands on some of the new converts that this man would have raised up. Whether this happened or not, I know at Pentecost this man would have got the full anointing drop on him out of the clouds.

We tend to read the Bible and skip over passages like this. I have a little understanding of what it is like to have hundreds of angry voices in your head screaming and swearing at you. One day it happened to me for half an hour that up to 1000 voices were shouting at each other and swearing very badly at Jesus. I was told later by Jesus that he had taken me to a place in hell. So I can relate a little to this man.

I also know what is like to see Jesus leave on a boat and be crying. One day some two years ago I met a very anointed man of God. He was the first man in the world that convinced me you could have a worry free, fear free, sinless and holy and powerful life lived by faith. You see the likes of Benny Hinn but this man I met in person and conversed with and spent a week under his profound teaching. Meeting Mutu was like meeting an apostle out of the Bible. There seemed no question that you could ask him that he didn't have the answer for and multiple scriptures to show you to support the answer. One time in a lounge room in a house I heard him preach for six hours and I was unhappy that we had to leave before he was finished. No one in my life has ever had me so interested and enthralled for six hours straight.

In the middle of that day my eyes filled with tears and I said to him that I was going to miss him when he flew back to Malaysia. He laughed and grinned like Jesus in the boat in my dramatization and said, "Miss me Matthew? You've got Jesus!"

Four days later at the airport we were at the window watching him walk along a path to the plane. Some people in our group closest to the window waved at him and he left the path and came up to the window and waved. I am no good at goodbyes and so I was not where he could see me. He looked and waved to all the people and then made a sign with his hands to say that he wanted the people in the front to part. When they parted he looked at me and mouthed the words. "I love you."

I turned away from him and walked away from everyone and began to weep. I cried for twenty minutes and I just couldn't stop crying. I knew Mutu wasn't Jesus, but he was the closest man I had ever seen that was like Jesus and I felt that I had a living Jesus leaving me behind.

The next day as I read the Bible the Holy Spirit directed me to this Bible passage the story was taken from above and the Holy Spirit told me I was feeling just like that man. Perhaps it's that, perhaps it's my own mental illness and the fact that I love to write fiction that I was able to put this together for you.

Look to Jesus, he is still juggling olives!

Thirteen years ago, in the year of 1996, Brook Harvey-Taylor and Billy Taylor agreed to start Pacifica Perfume. Even in those years, the fragrance market was highly competitive so instead of launching fragrances, they created candles blended with beautiful perfume of their own choice. All were made from natural essential oils. Sales were rocketing.

At Fall 2008, Pacifica launched their range of solid perfumes: Tibetan Mountain Temple, Spanish Amber, Mexican Cocoa, Madagascar Spice and the one I reviewed here Avalon Juniper. All are made from organic coconut and soya wax with natural and essential oils. In short, 100% vegan! Its tiny tin - only the size of bottle cap of Hemaviton Skin Nutrient - eases the wearer to toss it to bags. It also suited the theme of the season: eco & airport friendly cosmetics.

To be frank, I never knew what Juniper is apart from a flash of earthy pine scent. Additionally, my knowledge of where Avalon Island is quite low, beside that mythical story of King Arthur's Avalon Island. Thus, when finding the entry at Google.com, it was quite a surprise finding a real Avalon city at Catalina Island, California, along with its native plan junipers California.

IMHO, this Avalon Juniper is not extraordinary. In fact, I could mistaken it easily with traditional rubbing balm. Actually, when we sniffed the smell directly from its tin, a freshness from grapefruit and flowery heliotrope would come out. A dab on the skin would melt the solid wax, leaving a slightly greasy layer scented with cinnamon and green, earthy juniper. In the end, I felt like I was wearing balm oil. Well..

Apart from that, I admitted there were some times I needed a relaxing me-time, gazing outside the window with a cup of tea, unobtrusive scent made for myself and only to a person sitting next to me. Its spiciness brought warmth to the body and later, to the heart.

Avalon Juniper is sold for $9 per piece at Pacifica Perfume. Unfortunately, they have not send to Indonesia... yet. But, perhaps eBay and Amazon might list the items. Oh, I can not wait to buy Mediterranean Fig or Bali Lime Papaya (though, surely I would rather found papaya in Java. In Bali, orange-lime-coconut juice drink will be more suitable).

Slatwall has remained one of the most recognized merchandise displays systems for a long time. Slatwall panels can be used for numerous reasons, are flexible, easy to maintain and an inexpensive alternative for little and big businesses equally.

Merchants use slatwall panels to display many types of items; anything from wedding gowns all the way to items such and nuts & bolts. After a business installs the panels, you could choose to put hooks on them, shelving, hang rods or additional kinds of display fixtures. The expense of the mechanism is a cost-effective method for merchants to display products and amount a company pays for the slatwall panels can be counterbalanced by the additional revenue from products that a business is able to display and sell after installing the panels.

Slatwall is an excellent method for utilizing small areas, which is one reason why they are so recognized and preferred in stores that need to display attractive products and make good use of every inch of the store. The panels come in a vast array of shades and surfaces to blend in with any existing interior design and colors of the retail shop. It is additionally excellent for making good use of areas that are perpendicular shaped. Such areas a business owner might not use otherwise, because most kinds of panels and shelves will not fit into those areas.

Many shop owners find it difficult to get their products up into higher locations within the store; therefore, slatwall panels allow store owners to display many more items and put them higher if they need to. Customers can effortlessly see all of your products. Even if the consumers are window-shopping, they will be able to see every item displayed from outside too. If you choose to hand apparel and additional products flush with walls, consumers can get a better picture of how every piece of clothing looks and they will not need to dig through packed racks of attire.

Exhibiting your line of apparel and additional products on slatwall panels assists you with keeping a neat and organized store as well. With other kinds of display options, consumers usually need to take clothing or other items off racks or hangers, unfold them and when they are done viewing the items, they put them back as neatly as possible, but the racks and other display areas would not look neat and tidy anymore, unlike slatwall panels.

An additional advantage of using these kinds of display panels for your retail shop is that it helps control inventory better. If you display products on walls, for example, rather than displaying them in one crammed area, which leaves the store looking messy and does not permit sufficient shopping space for customers, you alleviate the possibility of thefts and are better able to watch the inventory flow for your business. Consumers need to approach a sales person if they want a specific size, for instance; therefore, that cuts down on the chances that you will encounter shoplifting activities too. When you can keep track of all products you sell or display, by using slatwall panels, for example, you will not need to worry about theft and will manage your business easier.

In addition to the advantages mentioned already, if you use shelving options that allow you additional space within the shop, you would be able to display even more products too. You could also consider placing a mannequin or two in the store somewhere, to display an outfit or two, because you will have more space for that as well.

Slatwall panel alternatives are used for retail shop renovations, or for new stores that need to revamp. When these 4x8 foot panels are set up in the store, they can hold clothing and other products, anything a store owner wishes to place on display and so forth.

A great slatwall dealer additionally provides a vast array of fixtures, accessories and attachments that go through slots, which in turn hold the actual retail items.

You, your shoppers and your staff will all welcome the tidiness of using slatwall panel displays. They help you save space and use extra space, permit you to add even more products within the shop, and they help you save money in numerous diverse ways. They are extremely flexible, so you can modify them whenever you need to, merely by adjusting the hooks, shelves or rod and moving the display to an entirely new area of the store, if you wanted to. Setting up displays, keeping track of inventory and having a tidy and organized store has never been easier than it is now with slatwall panels.

If you're a beginner scrapbooker, it's easy to get overwhelmed by page design. You leaf through the latest magazines or look at some of the online scrapbooking galleries, and you immediately think, "I could never do that!" You see all the little details -- the flowers, the rhinestones, the ribbon, the buttons and brads -- and it seems impossible to reproduce. Where would you even start?

My recommendation is to start with the basics. Scrapbook design doesn't begin with the details; it begins with the big picture. Just as a gorgeous, three-tiered wedding cake must have a strong foundation before you can add the rolled fondant icing and buttercream roses, you need a strong page foundation before you can add all the embellishments and doo-dads. So instead of focusing on the details and embellishments, train your eye to pick out the major page elements including:

-The photo(s)

-The journaling

-The title

Once you get a sense for how these pieces are oriented on the page, you'll see that the rest is icing.

Here's an exercise you can do to strengthen your ability to "read" a scrapbook layout. Pick your favorite page from a magazine or online gallery and ask yourself the following questions:

1. What is the focal point of the page -- the journaling or the photo?

2. How many photos are there, what sizes are they, and how are they oriented on the page?

3. Where is the journaling?

4. Where is the title, and how is it created?

Once you peel back the layers of rub-ons, ribbon, and ric-rac on any scrapbook layout, you'll see that the actual structure is quite basic, just as the standard structure of a house is four walls, a ceiling and a floor. Get those in the right place, and choosing paint and window treatments is easy!

It is not easy to decorate a barn for your dream wedding and reception, but with careful planning and creative thought it can be romantic and lovely or country and rustic. There are barns in some areas that are actually built to accommodate weddings and receptions, dances and other social events. In most cases a barn needs tender loving care, creative minds and careful planning to be transformed into your dream wedding location.

These tips and ideas are for you, so read on to see what you can find that will make your barn wedding just as the two of you want it to be. Since a barn is set in an outdoor setting that might be a field, a farmyard or grassy surroundings it is important to make sure that this is neat and as groomed as possible.

Clean-up and Conveniences for Guest

As most barns are not made for weddings it might require a clean-up before you can start to decorate. Clean walls, floors and window to remove dust and dirt. Be sure to check for loose nails, wood splinters anything else that could be a hazard to your wedding guests. You will need to know what or where restrooms are available if any and provide them if necessary.

The other important thing is proper heating and cooling for the guests comfort. You will also want to have adequate outlets for lighting and if you are having musicians or a DJ they will also require electrical outlets. Check too, for adequate parking spaces for you and your guests.

Outdoor Decorations

Corn stalks or bales of hay placed along the pathway to the barn makes it an inviting walk to the barn entrance. Also, the same stalks and bales placed at the entrance gives it a welcoming look as your guest go inside. Hanging curtains or drapes give a warm welcoming look to your entrance doors, too. It's not difficult to hang curtains or drapes on each side of the barn door entrance. The only thing is you must find ones that are long enough. You can cut lengths of fabric and hem each end. An option, is to buy regular curtains and then stitch a wide piece of ruffled lace or tulle across the bottom of each one to make it a longer length. It is likely you will not find a curtain rod long enough to go across a barn door opening, use a separate curtain rod for each curtain. Hang the rods on the inside of the door. Wild flowers growing around the barn or large bouquets of them placed nearby is another idea to consider. A fun idea is a truck load of hay and after the ceremony offer hay rides to the young and young-at-heart.

Indoor Decorations

The Walls

They will usually be large open spaces and unpainted and in need of some tender loving care to transform them into a wedding venue. An idea you might use is to hang Mexican blankets, beautiful handmade quilts, Native American blankets or other fabrics that would complement your theme colors on the walls almost as artwork. Lean wagon wheels and other theme items along the walls or you can even hang them on the walls. For a wedding kind of look drape greenery and tulle around pillars, ledges or from beams. Other decorations that would fit beautifully into the theme and show a bit of a creative flare is to make a lasso into the shape of a heart or color horseshoes in you wedding theme colors and add to the wall decor.

Lighting

As you know barns are most often dark and drab if they are not lit properly. But you can make it dreamy with great lighting I suggest you use candles that are battery-operated and place them on window ledges and tables.

Also, wrap rope lights or twinkle lights around pillars and along the barn beams. Hanging lanterns from the rafter beams also gives the barn setting a magical look. There may be restrictions on candles and things that have an open flame so be sure and clear this with the persons allowing you the use of the barn For a more elegant event couples have hung chandeliers from the ceiling. What a lovely and romantic look this gives.

Flowers

Flowers are a very important part of wedding decorations and do a great job of adding color and a brightness to your decor. Bigger blooms such as sunflowers are perfect, and make good use of farm type accents like pumpkins and fall leaves if a fall theme.

Other suggestions for anytime of the year would be seasonal veggies and potted plants and flowers. Hay will give you a country rustic look as well. As vases and containers try using mason jars, watering cans and galvanized pails or buckets. Great baskets are also good way to display accents for your rustic or country theme.

Tables

This is a wonderful way to express your theme and bring wedding theme colors into the barn. Again remember the barn is probably darker woods so need a lift which you can do with bright cloths and napkins and wedding favors. They might be checkered cloths or cloths of one color and a contrasting color for your napkins. I really like the idea of rich earth tone cloths and a runner of burlap down the center of the table. Here are but a few tips and ideas to get your creative juices going so that you can transform your wedding barn into the perfect setting for your dream wedding day. I truly hope that these decorating ideas for a barn wedding can inspire you.

There are a number of business and recreational reason why you need specialty paper. This type of printable paper may be used for a variety of purposes, including some great crafts. Scrapbooking, doing origami, even creating custom coloring books, all involve the use of specialty paper.

Scrapbooking is a great way to capture and preserve memories, especially since it involves multiple forms of media in combining writing and photographs. There is a vast, eclectic selection of specialty paper for scrapbooking from which to choose. The appropriate paper depends on your personal tastes and its intended purpose.

Using specialty paper for scrapbooking allows you to express a creative outlet and work in different mediums. There are no rules to scrapbooking; a scrapbook simply enables you to preserve a number of mementos. Scrapbooking is a marvelous way to preserve tangible memories such as letters, postcards, ticket stubs, and photographs.

Scrapbooking is a very relaxing pastime and there is a certain beauty to it. Scrapbooks do not need to look like Victorian relics; vibrant colors and bold design patterns are very popular in all aspects of scrapbooking, although, classic designs also remain popular.

When you shop for specialty paper for scrapbooking, you need to look for variety; having multiple paper options will allow you to choose paper that is appropriately festive or demure, depending on the nature of the keepsakes that you are saving. Vibrantly colored pages effectively offset custom stock sheets, such as the type that is used for wedding invitations. Pages with muter tones complement vibrantly colored items, such as playbills.

Origami is the ancient Japanese art of paper folding. It has varying levels of difficulty and requires different skill ranges. Basic origami is simple and straightforward, but advanced origami is complex and detail-oriented. The art of origami is best expressed with origami paper, which is a type of specialty paper. This specialty paper is available in two primary sizes and comes in many colors. To practice origami, you need to begin by making simple designs, such as paper boats, before you eventually progress to more complicated projects, such as paper cranes. Origami encourages dexterity and is a great skill to develop throughout your life.

Coloring is scientifically proven to be a therapeutic act. Coloring books are not just for children; sophisticated stained glass coloring books appeal to adults as well. Stained glass coloring books feature perforated translucent specialty paper that may be easily removed from the binding. When you hang a completed page on a window, sunlight is filtered through the colored portions, which makes it function like an actual stained glass window.

If you are looking for a coloring activity to do with a child, consider making your own coloring book sheets from home photographs. Certain websites enable you to upload photos into programs that strip them of color; you then may print them out on the appropriate printable paper and color within the lines, like you do with an actual coloring book.

Specialty paper is an essential component to many relaxing activities. Although some hobbies may seem childish, these pursuits are suited for accompanying you into and through adulthood.

Titanium has a lot of good characteristics that make it suitable for jewelry. It is stronger, harder, wears better and wont deform. It is also lighter and its colorful oxide coating is immune to time.

However, like all kinds of jewelry, titanium rings will get surface scratches or scuffs with everyday use. Storing a titanium ring in a big drawer is a bad idea since it may acquire scratches as it rubs against other items. These scratches will be noticeable in a new ring. Oil and dirt can also temporarily dull its color.

To protect your investment, remove your ring during activities that may make it prone to abrasion or hard knocks. In fact, don't wear any kind of ring at the gym, when gardening, playing sports, or at the beach. Small scratches in polished titanium can be removed with a cream metal polish. Use a soft towel to do this and remove polish residue with liquid dish soap.

Since abrasives can gradually wear away the surface coloring, don't use harsh chemicals to clean your ring. Avoid metal polishes or scrubbing soaps since these have abrasives that may scrub away the sub-micron thick color layer. Instead use rubbing alcohol, window cleaner, or non-moisturizing soap and water and a soft cloth to remove dulling dirt and oils.

Anodized products are best cleaned with warm soapy water then dried with a soft tissue. This will restore the rings optical purity and color. Clean a satin finished ring with a fine nylon pad that you can easily get from auto shops or hardware stores to restore the soft brushed finish. Don't rub the pad over anodized color surfaces or you will ruin the color.

Planning a wedding can be a stressful event. The last thing you need is to be ripped-off by an unscrupulous wedding vendor or planner. Here are a few tips to help avoid this problem.

Make Your Wedding Arrangements and Bookings As Far In Advance As Possible

Most facilities, vendors, and planners can be booked more than a year in advance. If possible, take advantage of this window of opportunity. Should something go wrong, it will provide you with more time to make alternate arrangements. Also, be aware that some vendors will actually charge you more if you order or book things at the last minute.

Shop Around and Deal With Trustworthy People

Before booking anything you should shop around and get an idea of current prices for each category of your wedding. Don't just hire the first caterer you meet with. Ask around with family, friends, co-workers, etc. and get their recommendations about services they may have used. If you want to be extra safe in this regard, you could also call your local Better Business Bureau. They can provide you with any problem information they may have received regarding a particular company.

Get Everything in Writing

It would seem obvious to do this, but a lot of couples tend to go on "faith" of what a vendor says, then are shocked with the vendor doesn't follow through. Get everything, down to the smallest detail, in writing and be sure both you and the vendor agree on all points before signing any contract. Include exact descriptions, such as if you are ordering flowers: how may bouquets, the exact type and color of the flowers, etc.

Be Aware of The Fine Print

Read any contracts over very carefully. Pay particular attention to their cancellation policy. You want to make sure it includes a provision for a refund of the deposit if you cancel or change your wedding date by a certain time period before your wedding. Of course, reasonably, you would not get a deposit back if you canceled two days before the wedding. Be sure to also include a written statement on the contract that you will not pay for services and will expect a complete refund on any deposits if the company does not deliver exactly as specified in the contract. A reputable company will respect this clause.

Regarding Photographers/Videographers and DJ's

When booking these services with a company, often you may wish to have a particular photographer/videographer and DJ for your wedding because you have seen their work or heard their play style and really like it. Make sure this is detailed on the contract with the person's name. Again, also include the clause that if that particular person is substituted, you will not pay for the service and will receive a refund on all deposits.

This happened at our wedding with the DJ. The one we were told was coming and who knew how our ceremony music was laid out did not show up, and the substitute DJ that showed had no idea how the wedding service was to proceed with the music. There was a mess up with some songs during the ceremony and we had no recourse, as we didn't include that provision in the contract. So be aware of this. Don't pay for a last minute substitute (unless you were thoroughly happy with their service).

Perhaps you have always enjoyed photography as a hobby and believe you know how to take excellent pictures, or you simply think that the events photographer's work is so easy that you could easily learn what it takes.

Creative Flair
Many people think that taking photographs of weddings and other events involves no great skill and if they are made redundant from their regular job they think they can make a success of event photography. While it may be the case that some people seem to have a good eye for what makes an excellent photograph, the skills required to be a top events photographer should not be underestimated. The fact that there are so many photography and film schools and course and certification in this field should be sufficient indication that there is a great deal the professional photographer needs to learn.

Organized and Responsible
For a start if you are not a well organized person this is certainly not a job for you. An events photographer needs to have completed all their camera equipment setup and have arrived at the event well in advance of the time it is due to start. If you have a poor memory and are likely to forget items in your studio, this is another factor that should deter you from trying to make a career in this field.

Sound Technical Knowledge
Investing in acquiring the technical knowledge that goes into making first class photos is also absolutely essential. To take one example, a good photographer knows how to take quality photos regardless of the light conditions. For church weddings it is common to find that the natural light is poor and so the photographer needs to first of all find out if they are allowed to use the flash gun. Assuming that use of the flash is permitted, there is the question of deciding if bouncing the flash is going to be effective. Bouncing the flash off a stained glass window is likely to produce an interesting light effect but will the resulting photos please the customer?

Good Social Skills
In addition to the technical talents required to use photographic equipment effectively, the events photographer must have well developed social skills. He or she has to know how to get the subjects of their photos to cooperate in posing in a way designed to produce the best quality pictures. A photographer should not be over aggressive but at the same time an excess of timidity can lose that precious shot that is going to add so much to the album.

Crystal with its numerous luminous surfaces has always been a favorite with decorators. It reflects light, gives the room a magical gleam and at the same time, lends a timeless elegance to the ambience. Nothing compares to a serene setting with crystal centerpieces and candle-holders. Crystal is not only very beautiful to look at but it also transforms its surroundings. Though crystals are stunning in their natural forms, when shaped and polished, they gain an unparalleled beauty. Crystal trees and crystal centerpieces are specially made for occasions like weddings and other celebrations.

Crystal Tree - the contemporary look:
A crystal tree in the centre of the room naturally becomes a stunning focal point. It can have silver or gold -painted branches with dripping ropes of crystal. This magnificent tree strategically placed atop a bar or near a card station can magically transform the ambience. A crystal tree is a perfect show stealer for weddings, showers, receptions etc. wedding planners and event managers use these trees imaginatively to create an enchanting and exotic look.

Crystal centerpieces:
Crystal centerpieces can add elegance and class to your table d矇cor or corners if placed suitably. You must take care of the lighting to enhance the effect of your crystal centerpieces. Crystal candle holders are a rage for any big event. In addition to the aesthetic value, crystal centerpieces add a lot of harmony and positive energy if placed with an idea of their form, color and type. The transparency of crystals such as Quartz and Amethyst not only lends an ethereal charm but also drives out any negative energy in the house. They also look absolutely beautiful as ornaments.

Crystal centerpieces have a beautiful glaze and if you take into consideration their shape and color before placing them, they can enhance the look of any furniture you put them on. A beautiful amethyst stone placed on your desk will glaze brilliantly and will also help you concentrate better.

Crystal pyramids are in vogue now and serve as good crystal centerpieces. They come in all colors and are very visually appealing. A rosaen quartz in the living room balances emotions when the family gathers.

A large centerpiece looks very eye-catching but for a more interesting look, you can try putting together a number of small pieces of varying colors and shapes. This gives a very artistic look and holds the eye longer. You can add a lot of style to your rooms by using crystal centerpieces. Their clear cuts and surfaces make them perfect decoration pieces which look very elegant as well as chic. All that is required is some planning of colors and shapes and you can have a very tastefully done up house with your crystal d矇cor.

Sometimes a window of opportunity presents itself and if you blink you could miss it.

We've been talking about our passion for Africa for years. Simply going on holiday there hasn't been enough for either of us and returning to the UK, at the end of any African holiday becoming more and more of a wrench. Yet we did nothing about it, although this was largely due to the fact that one of my children was still at home.

I've had this dream since the first time I set foot in the Masaai Mara nearly 15 years ago and fortunately it has also become Sean's dream after his first visit to S Africa in 2005 for our wedding. Luckily he fell in love with Africa too.

I've noticed that people often put off their dreams - maybe it's because they appear to be too far away, too remote, too untouchable. Or perhaps it's the perception that it could be too difficult to make happen. Perhaps it's down to fear or circumstances. Or, it could simply be down to our self belief, and doubts about having the relevant experience. Whatever the reason, there is a real danger of not, at the very least taking the initial steps into turning a dream into a reality.

Certainly in my case, I had practically wiped the possibility of making it happen from my mind. And then my youngest decided that he was going to defer his university place and have a gap year BUT he wanted to be independent and move out. Suddenly the possibility crept back into my consciousness. "It's now or never", was one of my thoughts. The other was, "do I really want to be sat here in 20 years regretting not having at least tried to make it happen".

In both our minds we had created all sorts of obstacles and barriers, so after a sole searching discussion we agreed that we had to at least take some action. The first step was to make a list our favourite places. And the next step was to make contact. At this stage some unhelpful internal dialogue started up, little voices whispering all kinds of doubts & fears and as I noticed how these started to make me feel, I managed to overcome them with positive action.

I chose to send out just one email (to test the water) to one of our favourite camps. It simply stated our passion for Africa and our desire to run a safari lodge and our belief that we had the skill set to do so. Within 20 hours we had a response - it just so happened that our email coincided with this camp looking for a new management couple. The discussions began and within 6 weeks we got confirmation that we were going to Zambia for the new season which would start at the end of February 2011.

When that email arrived in my inbox, all I could do was jump about squealing with delight! The only words that I could get out (much to Sean's annoyance), were I CAN'T BELIEVE IT, OMG! IT REALLY, REALLY IS HAPPPENING! Followed by more squeals of delight, until Sean grabbed me by the shoulders and asked me to please calm down and share with him whatever it was that had make me react this way. Words cannot describe how we felt. Even now, and we're doing it, it can sometimes feel quite unreal.

It's a very exciting new chapter of our lives, with new challenges to be faced daily and of course dealing with being so far away from our family and friends.

And the really scary thing is that we very nearly didn't do anything about it. Once we'd made the initial decision to take some action, the action became the plan and then the ACTION = DREAM = REALITY!

At the advent of the 21st century, the cemetery concept is being redefined, in which cemeteries are no longer just repositories for the dead. Consequently, an increasing number of cemeteries are transforming themselves into multipurpose facilities in which funerals, interment, and cremation are only among the services they offer. The extension of hospitality services to embrace tourism, photography, and passive recreation (e.g. jogging, walking, reading, quiet contemplation) and include weddings, baptisms, bar- and bat-mitzvahs, private parties, business seminars, lectures, and even floral shows, festivals, holiday specials, and concerts can be attributed to a number of factors:

1. Culture - the perception of death has changed from an inevitable somber event into a celebration of life, sharing of treasured memories and an opportunity to acquaint oneself with long lost friends and relatives (though not without tears).

2. Environs - the construction of bright comforting climate-controlled mausoleums and creation of serene cheerful urn gardens are challenging and supplanting the paradigm that cemeteries need be desolate, melancholy tombstone filled repositories. Many with their picturesque landscapes comprised of "magnificent trees, rolling hills, glacial lakes," ponds, gorgeous fountains, and even wildlife and museums are "oases amid the sprawl of modern development."[1]

3. Historical - with their interred, and array of architecture and monuments, cemeteries provide a connection to the past and documentary of the evolution of human history, perceptions, and emotions as captured by the changing architecture ranging from simple, weathered 18th century tombstones, elaborate (sometimes eroding) 19th century mausoleums and sculpted angels and allegorical figures, 20th century rediscovery of simplicity, and 21st century photographic and even interactive (audio and video on demand) tombstones.

4. Financial - To ease its annual operating deficit of $100,000+ Oakwood Cemetery (Troy, NY) held a daffodil brunch in the Gardener Earl Memorial Chapel and Crematorium known for its Siena marble walls and spectacular Tiffany windows, and an outdoor Renaissance Fair featuring knights in armor. Other cemeteries are following the same model and are also building state-of-the-art mausoleums to improve efficiency.

5. Many older cemeteries especially those nearing the end of their active lives as they deplete their available burial space need to reinvent themselves to ensure continued financial viability.

Currently, several schools now even offer cemetery studies and/or have field trips to cemeteries with the objective of encouraging appreciation of the unique historical perspective of a specific place. As a result, Woodlawn Cemetery (Bronx, NY) among others offers "opportunities for students studying Art History, Historic Preservation, Landscape Architecture, Archival Records, American History, American Culture and other related fields."

According to one teacher, Cara Bafile, the annual class trip to the cemetery has "become a looked forward to tradition [in which some beg to go back]." School trips to the cemetery, though are not new. Back in the early 1970s one of the author's school field trips was to a local cemetery where every student was in awe of the largest graves as we looked at the various markers for style and age (e.g. what is the oldest tombstone, who lived the longest, etc.).

Tourism:

Though tourism to cemeteries may seem morbid to some, in the words of Jessica Ravitch, Cemeteries breathe life into tourists (CNN 2008), it "can be inspirational [and] life-affirming... [It can be] a history and architecture lesson [because they are exceptional archives of human and architectural history - thus The Chicago Architecture Foundation offers guided tours of seven of the City's cemeteries charging between $5 to $30 per person], a cultural appreciation course, a genealogical journey and a source of relaxation." Some even view it as a service to those who cannot make the trip and a reminder of the preciousness of life. "Many people find great peace and solace in visiting cemeteries even if their own relatives are not buried there," said Janet Heywood, trustee for the Association for Gravestone Studies in an article written by Benny Snyder, Tombstone tours: Check out these famous cemeteries (USA Today, 10 October 2009).

Cemeteries also maintain a connection to the past and even enhance the learning experience as students and tourists stand next to the resting places of famous persons who made significant contributions during their lifetimes. It is as if they are right next to history. Per Gary Laderman, Professor of Religion at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) and author of Rest In Peace: A Cultural History of Death and the Funeral Home in the 20th Century, it is a "chance for civic engagement to overcome social isolation of historically significant places."

Furthermore, even though cemetery tourism is viewed as the new "in" thing or the latest trend, it is hardly a new phenomenon. Many cemeteries such as Père Lachaise (Paris, France) (established in 1804 by Napoleon Bonaparte) where Maria Callas, Modigliani, Frédéric Chopin, and Oscar Wilde, among others, are buried, and Laurel Hill (Philadelphia, PA) have attracted throngs of tourists for nearly two centuries. Green-Wood Cemetery (Brooklyn, NY) at one point attracted more than 500,000 visitors per year during the mid-to-late 1800s.

Key attractions to tourists and photographers are tombstones, architecture, sculptures (e.g. weeping maidens, angels) mausoleums, and necropolises as well as concerts, lectures, floral shows, and holiday specials to name a few.

While large Victorian-era cemeteries such as Laurel Hill and Green-Wood as well as New Orleans' Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 and St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, which dates back to 1789, (the latter two with their above ground tombs), are top attractions, small cemeteries and graveyards are not without their own treasures.

A quarterly newsletter, Tomb with a View that provides a nationwide listing of cemetery tours is available for cemetery-centric tourists. It can be subscribed to for $15 per year from P.O. Box 24810, Lyndhurst, OH 44124.

Photography:

Cemetery photography, contrary to public perception, is mainstream and popular. It is even profitable enough that some companies specialize solely in cemetery photography. Accordingly Northstar Gallery's website reads they present "a collection of sensuous, fine art photos... of cemetery and memorial art from around the world [that explore and offer] poetry and commentary [on] the historical role of memorial and cemetery art in man's struggle with mortality, immortality, salvation, death and transcendence."

Also, consistent with tourism, cemetery photography (separate and distinct from post-mortem photography) dates back to the medium's infancy. It was not long after the daguerreotype was invented that photographers captured images of cemeteries. Southworth & Hawes, perhaps the most famous daguerreotypist duo captured no less than seven images from Mount Auburn Cemetery (Cambridge, MA). By the 1860s with the development of stereoview, cemetery photography gained in popularity with Green-Wood Cemetery and its scenic views being a favorite among photographers.

Passive Recreation:

Passive recreational activities at cemeteries date back more than a century. During the Victorian-era (1837-1901), cemeteries were the main venue when not the only venue of a locale to enjoy passive recreational activities since many urban areas had no arboretums, no parks, and no museums. At one point so many visitors flocked to Laurel Hill that the cemetery had to issue gate passes and restrict Sunday visits to family members of the deceased.

Consistent with the continued popularity of cemeteries for passive recreational activities, Michael O'Hearn in Visit Mt. Auburn Cemetery writes, it "is a temporary retreat from the urban bustle into a world of trees, birds, [chipmunks], rabbits and statuary. While it sounds unlikely, such places do exist... Mt. Auburn possesses a varied landscape, ponds and glens, hills and dells. The plantings and trees are so thick in places that from above they look like a forest. The monuments... show an array of styles and themes." With its "winding roads and paths named after flowers and trees" Mt. Auburn (founded in 1831 and the nation's first landscaped garden cemetery) defies connotations of the stereotypical graveyard.

In addition, a November 2009 letter from Executive Director Brian Sahd of Friends of the Woodlawn Cemetery (founded 1863 in the Bronx, NY) states, "Woodlawn is an incredible resource for all of us... [It is much] more than a place of rest... [it is one of New York's greatest treasures - rich in irreplaceable architecture, history, culture, and natural wonders... Its 400 acres of rolling hills and monumental architecture invite you to step into a world outside of time. Around every corner is another amazing unexpected discovery. The entire landscape literally is a visual feast of graceful beauty. A Greek temple follows an obelisk, accompanied by the delicate statue of entwined lovers. Azalea bushes bloom under towering elms and graceful willows. Bird songs accompany the play of cottontail rabbits, and chipmunks. A stone bridge spans a peaceful lagoon, surrounded by elegant reminders of New York City's greatness."

Weddings:

Cemetery weddings expand and redefine the paradigm - "...unto death do us part" since death need no longer separate spouses who can be buried together at their wedding site.

As with tourism, even though cemetery weddings are gaining wider acceptance and being held at more venues, they are not a new phenomenon. Since 1928 more than 60,000 weddings have been performed at Forest Lawn Cemetery (Los Angeles, CA) alone.

When Lisa Rigby was requested to photograph Kate's and Daniel's wedding at Mount Auburn Cemetery, she was, in her words, "so excited." "Growing up, I spent so much time in a beautiful, rambling, landscaped cemetery near our house. For us kids the cemetery wasn't some spooky forbidden place. It was where we rode bikes in the summer and built snowmen in the winter. It was where we walked my cocker spaniel, ran and played, and sat to talk with friends for hours on end... I always thought it was sad that so many people were afraid of the cemetery," she wrote on August 21, 2009 in a blog entry about Kate's and Daniel's wedding (all of which the author can identify with having grown up with my brother next to a small historic cemetery for the first seven years of my life in which the cemetery was the setting for many games of chase and hide-and-seek with the neighborhood kids and a lot safer than the parking lot next door).

At the same time, Kate wrote, "[We] were married at Mount Auburn Cemetery... I know it may seem like an odd choice for a wedding, but it's a beautiful place, our favorite in Cambridge. When we walk through it, I find it moving to think about all of the lives that are commemorated there."

When Sheryl and Kurt married in 1990 at Wisconsin Memorial Park's Chapel of Chimes with its church-like setting, vaulted ceilings, stained glass windows, and wall art depicting the Last Supper that serves as part mausoleum and part museum, the groom thought it "perfectly normal and pretty neat" while the bride added, "our wedding was just like any other wedding" according to an account written by William J. Lizdas in Married in a cemetery? Some adore the idea (JS Online, 20 May 2009).

With increasing numbers of cemeteries opening their gates to weddings, Spring Grove Cemetery's (Cincinnati, OH) website reads, "Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials... We offer a variety of unique locations for you to hold your ceremony. The Norman Chapel... built in 1880 boasts several beautiful stained glass windows... The Garden Courtyard... located in the front area of the cemetery/arboretum... is planted with Hybrid Tea Roses, as well as other colorful annual flowers."

Symbolism and Changing Perceptions:

Cemeteries are replete with symbolism (which provide a means of dealing with mortality and providing a semblance of control over death), carvings and epitaphs (used to shed light on the deceased whom have been reduced to mere names (when they still exist on weathered tombstones) (e.g. "Here lies the remains of Hannah, the Wife of Solomon Gedney, who dep: this life April 1788 Aged 37 Yrs." and "Stop Reader Eer the Passeth this stone nor regardless be told that near its Bass (sic) lies deposited the remains of Mary Dixon, Wife of John Dixon, a woman whose reputation was spotless and whose life was spent in the practice of virtue having by her unshaken fortitude and native independence of Soul commanded the esteem of all who knew her. She departed this life August 12th 1811 aged 53 years" etched on tombstones in Eleazor Gedney Burial Ground, Mamaroneck, NY) and the values, hopes (e.g. "She is not dead, the child of our affection - But has gone to realms above" etched on a tombstone for Paulina, daughter of Charles and Sarah Ann Gedney who died on May 9, 1856 at 5 Years, 1 Month, and 11 Days also at Eleazor Gedney Burial Ground, Mamaroneck, NY) and beliefs of past eras), both of which arose with a desire to remember the dead, and have changed with the ages as social perceptions and ways of coping have evolved.

For example, the skull and bones that came to depict death for their use on tombstones in 18th century Spanish cemeteries were replaced by cherub heads by the mid 1800s as the concept of death became socially less terrifying and the weeping willow used to portray sorrow and mourning during the 18th century to mid 19th century were supplanted by other plants - especially lilies to shed a more positive light on death while symbolizing the resurrection and afterlife.

Common Victorian-era symbols that have gradually disappeared from use based on changing social tenets and demographics are lamenting and weeping women (since 19th century norms precluded men from showing emotion; consequently memorials utilizing men depicted them in a prominent light), the use of children and cherubs utilized to invoke sadness at the loss of a child, which had been common during those times, and prevalence of urn vessels (since an urn represented the body as a container that held the soul) and sometimes, though to a significantly lesser extent, other images draped with a pall (clothe used to cover a coffin).

Other symbols found in Victorian-era cemeteries are gates (symbol of the gates of Heaven), Celtic crosses (symbol of the four directions on a compass and mind, body, heart, and soul), birds in flight (symbol of the soul borne aloft), mourning doves (symbol of lamentation and even the Holy Spirit), wreathes (symbol of glory), crosses (symbol of the resurrection), and Star of David (symbol of redemption and of the Jewish people).

Angels are still used to "soften the finality of death" and to provide comfort. Some sit at each side of a grave with "heads bowed, as if guarding the bodies of departed souls" to ease the gloom of subterranean tombs.[2]

Generally, today's symbolism no longer views death as an inevitable finality in which our mortality is lamented but rather as a new beginning because of the hope of the afterlife to come. As a result, angels and other allegorical figures often point skyward as a reminder that the deceased lives in Heaven and tombstones often portray biblical figures such as Jesus (the ultimate symbol of resurrection), Mary, Joseph and biblical scenes such as The Last Supper, the Pieta, and Jesus praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. Other graves are marked by tombstones or ground markers that include sculpted images, etched or embossed photographs, with some high-tech tombstones consisting of even audio (of the deceased speaking) or video (of important moments of a deceased's life) played upon demand.

Mausolea:

Consistent with changing cemetery symbolism, mausolea (which date back to 353 BC when Queen Artemisia II built the world's most splendid tomb as a tribute to her late husband, King Mausolus of Caria) have also evolved through the ages from dark, gloomy, forbidden places that held the remains of prominent families and a few members of the public (when space was available) to multi-story edifices built specifically for the public with bright, ambient décor designed to appeal to the living.

Prior to the advent of new mausolea that began in the early 20th century, famous Greeks and Romans built their own mausolea for centuries until the rise of Christianity, in which only saints were permitted to have monuments (typically churches) built at their graves. However, commencing in the 19th century, wealthy Americans revived the practice and even though such 19th and early 20th century mausolea appeared impressive on the outside, they often consisted of dark, narrow, tiny spaces that in the words of Jack Naudi, New mausoleum keep living in mind (Post-Dispatch, November 6, 2003) were "cold and uninviting to the living."

However, with the new generation of mausolea (with built in skylights, stained-glass windows, plush furniture, and cheery brightness) that consist of family crypts, single crypts, niches, and urn cabinets (the latter two for cremated remains), above ground entombment, which has been popular in Europe for centuries and a necessity for New Orleans cemeteries because of their location below sea level, is becoming increasingly popular in the United States and parts of Asia. Thus these new mausolea are adding to the cemetery experience because of their appealing nature and profit margins because of their efficiency of space.

Conclusion:

With the redefining of the cemetery concept aimed at maximizing their appeal and services to the living, cemeteries are no longer mere repositories for the dead. Instead they are multipurpose facilities that are connected to the communities they serve, bringing people together beyond the constraints of death while promising an unforgettable, comforting experience to all who absorb their striking scenery, view their rich history and architecture, research genealogy and changing social perceptions through tourism, photography, and passive recreation, and of course remember their beloved dead. At the same time, they are providing serene, tasteful resting places for the deceased that even the living can look forward to when our inevitable day arrives.

Simple at it may sound, a job as a florist is not all that easy. It is not simply throwing together a bunch of flowers that makes an arrangement. You need to know the simple color combinations and special flowers that go with certain occasions. Some flowers symbolize the making or breaking an arrangement too. You ought to know it all before harboring the thought of becoming a florist.

Job Of A Florist

Being a florist is not a glamorous job. You have to deliver flower arrangements according to the occasion. It could be a funeral or a wedding. Keeping in mind that the customer may not be aware of the various flower arrangements, a florist must be able to make suitable suggestions. On an average day, you may have to make wreaths for funerals and various other types of arrangements. Posies or sheaves are mostly put together in front of the customer.

The duties in a florist's shop include:

o Unwrapping the flower stock

o Spraying the flowers and conditioning the plants

o Pricing merchandise and displaying it in an attractive manner

o Attending to customers and phone calls

o Completing and delivering orders and creating designs for the shop

o Keeping the shop clean and tidy

o Keeping a work record

o Putting up new arrangements in the shop window display regularly

Training

Some community colleges conduct classes in floral designing. However, if you are really set on becoming a florist, all you need is the passion and hands-on experience. Many florists start off as apprentices in flower shops. After years of working in the industry, some move on to setting up their own shops. The American Institute of Floral Designers offers aspiring florists the opportunity to earn a certificate that specifies 'Accredited in Floral Design'. Potential members are asked to submit pictures of their flower arrangements. Live demonstrations are conducted by AIFD judges.

The institute also offers grants for student research in the area of floral design. An AIFD accreditation is said to be of the highest standing in the world of floriculture.

Associated Careers

Typically, florists are small-business owners. Other jobs that need similar skills include wedding and party designing, gardening and landscaping.

If you wish to be a florist, you can begin by making small arrangements for your family and friends. Take up small flower arrangement tasks at family functions or birthday parties. Click pictures of these arrangements to give your prospective employer a brief peek at your skills.

Besides the training, an aspiring florist needs to build a healthy rapport with customers. This helps in developing a strong client base for future business. Your care and the personal attention paid towards each flower arrangement, adds to the personal touch desired.

Are artificial flower arrangements really worth the money? It's a fair question, but today's answer is going to be significantly different than it was ten years ago because of the vast improvements in quality due to improved technology. The value can depend largely on the sources you choose. Generally speaking you're going to find a much higher quality in a specialized name brand product from stores that specialize in artificial botanicals versus your local big box department store. Of course what you need it for largely determines what quality you need to choose. If you're looking for a few stems for the cemetery (check their policy first) to last for several months you can do fine at your local discount craft store. However, if it's professionally designed artificial flower arrangements or bouquets for your wedding, it's going to require a different search entirely. It all begins by looking in the right places, and weighing your budget ahead of time. Other considerations are the environments where your flowers or plants will be placed. If you're planning an outdoor wedding, nothing is more versatile nor more beautiful than a correctly planned selection of silk botanical sprays, silk flower arrangements and artificial floral decor. Don't worry about fragility, as the silk style will handle most any weather environment and look fabulous doing it.

If you're the crafty person, or trust a close friend who is, you may be able to fashion your own ideas providing you're prepared for the outcome and the amount of work involved. Some have a real touch for crafting artificial flower arrangements and some don't, but don't add to your stress level wondering when and if the final product is going to meet your satisfaction. In other words if you can afford professionally customized artificial florals I wholeheartedly recommend them. They can be ordered and RECEIVED well ahead of time. I also recommend if you order on line that you order at least several individual stems as samples well ahead of time so you know it's the style and quality you expect. If you're familiar with some of the top brand names it would be helpful to know what the retailer uses. Some of the ones we recommend are Larksilk, Flowers Royale, Aldik, Botanical Silk, or Silk Visions, being high end custom made floral designs that you will always treasure.

Special occasions like Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas can mean the need to find a unique, everlasting gift, and there are some gorgeous artificial flower arrangements available. Do you have a sibling that always seems to "out do" you for Mother's Day? Mom will never forget this presentation, as she will be displaying it daily, providing you consider her present decor and choose carefully. You don't have to break the piggy bank to get a nice display, but always get the best for your money.

Something a little different for yourself might be a pair of floral wall sconces to decorate your own home, as you know the style and colors best for your abode. Wreaths and arches are also great items to decorate with inside and out year round. Let your imagination (and your budget) be your guide, but always get the best you can to be happy with the look and performance.

No matter if you're looking for simple or elaborate artificial flower arrangements, you'll be surprised and probably elated with what you find. Plan ahead, shop carefully and your efforts will pay off beautifully whether it be for that special wedding, or for adding spectacular decor to your home or office for years of enjoyment.

Marriage remains a sacred institution no matter how aggressive our culture of independence and self-reliance. Protecting your vows after marriage so it can flourish is a must. Time is not on your side. It is predicted that most marriages will succumb to a number of pressures that grow in intensity within a fourteen-month window. Couples who base their relationship on emotion alone are the most vulnerable with love being the most overused and misunderstood word in the English language. Love is a "fruit," layered to enhance its power and force of nature. Marriage will require the couple to examine and adopt a marriage construct that defines it more comprehensively. With each annotation, they move closer to the tools needed to make their love last a lifetime; they will possess signature love notes. Love is multi-dimensional in construct and must be understood as such. Failure to do so makes you a candidate for the fourteen-month window of statistical vulnerability. The further you are from defining love more comprehensively, the more vulnerable you become. Therefore, love must be defined within a broader construct; synthesizing a number of properties to sustain the marriage covenant. Here is a brief overview of that construct.

Psychological - Signature of Influence: A definite, preconceived notion of a personal preference for a mate. Preferences have been influenced by culture and by distinct character tracts that have had a lifetime for maturation. Personal preferences then determine if the relationship journey begins.

Physiological - Signature of Attraction: Human anatomy and its appeal are related to culture and character. Physical attraction is typically what grabs attention first and then there comes a deeper revelation of compatibility. What you look like before the "I do," oftentimes than not, is the lowest threshold of expectation after the vows. Improvement is anticipated.

Technological - Signature of Accountability: Access to conversations to get to know one another better happens multi-contextually to include modern-day online mediums. Understanding the role social networking sites can play in nurturing or disturbing a relationship, needs to be explored and understood with proper boundaries established from the beginning.

Artistical - Signature of Presence: Expressions of caring across the continuum is very important to the relationship. The more ways you can say you care the better. Being creative and imaginative keeps the excitement in marriage and leaves no room for it to become visionless and lifeless. Being intentional about eating together and the types of meals prepared; to the home, you live in and its aesthetic appeal; to plans for date day as well as times when the two of you take individual retreats, are components of the continuum. Couples reflect each other in a number of ways, and the public domain is where the stakes are the highest. By taking pride in your mate and respecting public protocols of behavior; you secure this component for lasting love.

Theological - Signature of Submission: Your faith has everything to do with the longevity of your marriage. It is the evidence you sow into your relationship that you are committed through the challenges of marriage. There can be no difference here. Life is a peculiar journey. There is predictability sewn in every garment; strewn along every path you take but then there are the unpredictable moments and situations that will require you to have faith. Not only is your faith critical here, but your adherence to a set of beliefs; principles of trust and confidence that guide you individually and your marriage collectively. You willingly submit to each other, and the established boundaries are respected. This is the only layer of Signature Love Notes: How to Keep Love for a Life Time, is a construct that calls for mutual agreement on faith. If there is no mutual agreement, it is a deal breaker for getting married. Entering a marriage relationship without a clear understanding of individual theological beliefs accelerates the fourteen-month window.

Economical - Signature of Responsibility: A happy home is built on a lot of things, and finance is a key pillar. Women, in particular, need to feel a sense of security. Living space and finances for daily living require intentional actions to ensure there is always more than enough to meet such needs. Stressors in marriage have a tendency to be the most dominant at this level of the continuum. The financial well-being of a couple has little to do with the extent of the wealth. Couples from all economic backgrounds are faced with money matters that disrupt "happy" homes. Adhering to a principled value of being debt free "before" marriage is a wise consideration. Working to reduce debt is a good start but being debt free coupled with intentional spending habits, is a recipe for basking in love for a lifetime.

Your Signature has identifiable markings that are distinctly distinguishable as yours. Your preferences in a mate and all the signature love notes that make up this thing called "love," observations, and other messaging systems you use to communicate your level of care and concern, must be understood before you say, "I do." Each signature stroke must resonate with the unique tones of your mate.
