There is no better way to have your wedding remembered for years to come than to incorporate unique ideas into your wedding ceremony. Although your family may expect you to follow certain traditions, you can still find a way to mix in several unique ceremony ideas. Here are five great unique ceremony ideas that are sure to make memories of your wedding last a lifetime.
- Have a 'pre-reception' before your wedding begins. This is a fantastic way to allow your guests to get acquainted and break the ice before the actual ceremony begins.
- Have your ceremony by candlelight. This is will easiest in a smaller venue, but can work in any building. Have your bridesmaids and groomsmen walk down the aisle in pairs, each carrying candles that they will place in candle holders near where the two of you will exchange vows. Take it a step further by passing out candles to your guests to hold during the ceremony. Remember to close the window shades or have your ceremony scheduled near dusk.
- Use large, blown-up pictures to display your happiest times together. Any pictures will work, as long as they feature you and your future spouse smiling together. You may also want to feature pictures that include the two of you with close family and friends.
- Allow both sets of parents to say a few words about the two of you before your vows are exchanged. Although this usually happens at the reception toast, it will be a special experience for your parents to speak about you prior to the vows and you can save the wedding toast for siblings, other relatives or close friends. You may even want to allow both sets of parents to stand with both of you during the ceremony, in place of bridesmaids or groomsmen.
- Set up the guest chairs in single, half-circle rows around where you will exchange vows. Situate the first row, reserved for parents and siblings, just a few feet from where you and your soon-to-be spouse will be standing. This will only work n a venue that has individual seating, so that you can move the chairs around.
These ideas can be helpful when you are trying to plan a ceremony that is truly different than what your friends and family is used to. They can also make your wedding an even more special occasion, by making your guests feel like part of the ceremony, rather than just spectators.
