Summer is just around the corner, and it's wedding season. If you're part of a lucky couple planning a June wedding then the chances are you're looking to have it outside. Decorating for an outdoor wedding takes a little bit more prep work than for an indoor wedding. Here's a quick guide on how to decorate outdoor wedding tables.
An outdoor reception will add a few variables to any wedding preparation. You're no longer dealing with a nice climate controlled environment. Instead you need to be prepared for inclement weather. Here are a few ways to decorate and mitigate any weather snafus that may try to spoil your wedding.
The first thing you'll want to do is secure any loose tables cloths or drapes against any wind gusts. It really isn't that pretty a ceremony when a table cloth lifts off a table and flies across the lawn. A good way to secure the table cloths to the table is to sew Velcro into the table cloth.
You'll want to stitch in some Velcro to the center of the cloth and then around the edges of the table cloth. Next thing to do is glue the opposite piece of Velcro down to the table edge and center.
Repeat this for all the tables. Now if the wind gusts up the table cloths will just flap a little bit but you won't have to worry about anything flying away.
Now the only thing to worry about is if it rains. Of course it won't, but just in case!
The best insurance option you have is large umbrellas. Not only will they keep out any rain but they'll also serve as a great shade source for your guests.
If you have tables that have a hole in the center then all you'll need to do is cut around the center of the table cloth and stick the umbrella through it. You can gussy up the pole and hole by using a wreath type centerpiece wrapped around the center of the table. You can wrap lights around the pole to add accent lighting if the party runs after dark.
If you're dealing with solid tables then you'll have a bit more of a challenge. You can strategically place an umbrella at each table. All you'll need to do is stick the umbrella pole into the ground close to the table. The only disadvantage to going this route is you'll need a couple umbrellas per table. You should be able to find them at a party rental store though. It'll just increase the cost a bit.
You can find umbrellas in any size and shape to accentuate your wedding décor and colors.
So, there you go. The two biggest challenges you'll face when trying to figure out how to decorate outdoor wedding tables are wind and rain. With a little bit of preplanning though you won't have to worry about those. How to decorate outdoor wedding tables just takes a little bit of Velcro and a couple umbrellas. These two simple items are all you'll need to set up a virtually weather proof wedding.
